Thursday, January 21 - Nadine Hughes – Entrepreneur, Chef, Award-Winning Author & Television Personality - “Tweeting My Way to Success”

Oakville-based entrepreneur, chef and entertainment “foodie”, Nadine Hughes, was informed just a few weeks before Christmas that she was the winner of the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the Best Entertaining Cookbook category for Canada. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards was founded by Edouard Cointreau in 1995 to honour those who “cook with words” and to highlight the best of the 26,000 food & wine books that are published every year.

In February Nadine’s book, “The Groove Mamma Goes Gourmet: Easy Ways to Put the Fun Back into Entertaining” will be competing in Paris for the Best in the World in the Entertaining cookbook category. This achievement is particularly noteworthy because the book is an E-Book, available only as a download or in CD format.

Halton Industry Education Council (HIEC)

In 2010, the Halton Industry Education Council (HIEC) is pleased to announce an exciting new initiative, "Men as Career Coaches" (MACC), based on the overwhelming success of their Women as Career Coaches mentoring program. 

Men as Career Coaches (MACC) – 1^st time

HIEC and its partners have built a dynamic networking event aimed at helping young men become better informed of their options in the world of work. MACC will involve a wide range of men from different occupational pathways with the goal of engaging and enlightening young men in our community about the many opportunities available to them. Student participants will range from ages 13-18, and will be pursuing a variety of post-secondary pathways (work, university, college and apprenticeship). 

Men as Career Coaches (MACC) Event is scheduled for Thurs, March 4, 2010 at the Burlington Convention Centre, Oakville, ON.

Women as Career Coaches (WACC) – 6^th year 

Celebrating Women - their goals, pathways, and accomplishments. 

Women as Career Coaches (WACC) is designed to involve a variety of women from different occupational pathways to encourage and help young women become better informed about the many options available to them in the world of work. Female mentors representing all occupational sectors will act as Career Coaches to empower young women to take control of their futures. 

Young women need access to adult role models who are willing to share their career pathways and encourage the goals and dreams of youth. To meet this need, The Halton Industry Education Council is pleased to present the annual Women as Career Coaches event.
